Health and safety investigation results in guilt plea after tragic on site accident - £60,000 fine for Biffa. This week saw Biffa Waste Services being fined the large sum of £60,000 after a 23 year old died at the Mallusk landfill site. The body of David Layland was discovered after a twenty four hour search under tons of waste. Although it has proved impossible to establish how and when Mr Layland died, the tragic accident has highlighted the importance of maintaining health and safety checks.
