FAQs

What is PAT testing?
PAT Testing or Portable Appliance Testing is a specialised process of testing all portable, electrical appliances to ensure they are safe. PAT Testing is imperative for businesses to fully comply with The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, in addition to other health and safety regulations.

Why do you need your appliances tested?
PAT Testing is an important part of any Health & Safety policy within the workplace. Appliances have to comply with The Electricity At Work Regulations and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations. It also reduces the risk of fire or injury which can be caused by an electrical appliance.

What needs to be tested?
Any portable electrical appliance which is used in your workplace should be tested. A portable electrical appliance is any piece of equipment which is connected to the electrical mains through a plug (usually 13 amps). It also typically is powered between the 40-415 volt range.

Who will perform the testing?
Our PAT Testing engineers are fully trained, reliable, smart and trustworthy. As standard, they use up-to-date equipment that is well maintained, and they wear visible 250RIO clothing. They are also fully CRB checked.

Is there any disruption caused by electrical testing?
If PAT Testing is planned correctly, then there will be minimal disruption to your business's daily activities. 250RIO will work around you to deliver a service which satisfies your requirements.

How long will it take to complete?
This depends on how many items we need to test. We always move as quickly as possible, while bearing electrical safety in mind.

What do we receive when testing is completed?
On completion of PAT testing a fully itemised statement of all appliances tested and a PAT testing certificate is provided. All appliances tested are clearly labelled with a sticker identifying Pass / Fail, Test Date, and the Re-test Date.

How much does it cost?
Costs depend on the number of items to test and whether any out-of-hours work is required. The more items we test the lower the unit cost per item. 250RIO provides competitive quotes which are tailored to your needs.

"We were impressed that not only were you competitively priced but you also showed courtesy and patience to all our employees when you were carrying out the tests on our site at Ralli Courts. Dealing with demanding solicitors and support staff of a Law firm is not an easy task. I would be happy to recommend your PAT testing service to other businesses."
